Iraqi Grave Contains Remains of 200 Kurdish
Children, AFP Says
June 3 (Bloomberg) -- Residents of the northern
Iraqi
province of Kirkuk discovered a grave containing
the remains of 200 Kurdish children, Agence
France-Presse cited the Kurdish newspaper Taakhi
as saying.
``This is different from other mass graves
discovered since the fall of Saddam Hussein´s
terrorist regime because it contains the remains
of 200 child victims of the repression of the
Kurdish
uprising,´´ the paper said, according to AFP.
``Even dolls were buried with the children.´´
Kurds in northern Iraq rose up against the Iraqi
government after the Gulf war in 1991. The
government was accused of using poisonous gas
against civilians to suppress the rebellion.Dozens
of mass graves have been uncovered all over Iraq
since Hussein´s regime was toppled in April, three
weeks after a U.S.-
led invasion.
