The GOP Senate primary races in Missouri and Ohio have become contests to see which candidate can create the stupidest tweet.

The game is clear (for Mandel and Vance). GOP voters don't care what their candidates say on Twitter. They do care if their candidates have the "right" enemies. Twitter cruelty/nuttiness is thus all upside. It makes all the right enemies without costing any needed support.
