NEW: President Trump has now fired the Senior Cyber Security official at the Department of Homeland Security, continuing a purge of US national security agencies and leaving the country vulnerable to attack during the Biden Transition.

Bryan Ware, Assistant Director for Cybersecurity for the Department of Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), confirmed to Reuters that he had handed in his resignation on Thursday.

Documenting these firings may seem alarmist; some say Trump is simply irritated with people he perceived to have obstructed his bizarre US foreign policy approach.

But the dismissal of a Cybersecurity official doesn’t fit that pattern.
