Israeli security chief warns of Jan. 6-type violence

The director of Israel’s domestic security service, the Shin Bet, warned on Saturday of growing incitement that could lead to politically motivated violence.

Why it matters: Nadav Argaman's rare public statement raised concerns about the threat of a Jan. 6-style attack in Israel to prevent a peaceful transition of power if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is ousted after 12 years in office.

Prime Minister @netanyahu retweeted a statement on Friday afternoon that said "overthrowing" him would cause the "collapse of the global right-wing."

After Netanyahu's son was suspended from FB and Twitter for sharing the home addresses of his political opponents and calling for protests outside, Likud has put out this statement in English in (I assume) an attempt to get the attention of US Republicans.

Netanyahu: "We are witnessing the biggest election fraud in the history of the country". He also called the his son's doxxing suspension from Facebook and Twitter "the greatest fraud in the history of democracy". Sounds... oddly familiar.

When Netanyahu says "election fraud", he's referring to right-wing parties supporting the opposition coalition, thus "stealing right-wing votes". That's a political argument, not a claim that the vote was tampered with. But it's surely designed to rhyme with Trump.
